First of all, happy birthday Mom! I love you!
Ok, go ahead. Reread the title of this post. That's what I had for lunch today. Among the vegetables and rice and broth, there was a nice little chunk of beef, still on the bone. Come to find out, it was cow tail. It didn't taste bad, mostly like any other piece of beef would, but UGH...just the thought of it made my stomach churn! I had to force myself to eat most of it!
On the other end of the deliciousness scale, tonight I went with Edmundo, Maria Valeria, Maria Valeria the daughter, and Ligia Maria to get a traditional Nicaraguan dessert called repados (I think). Basically it's like a sno-cone, except the sauce or syrup they put on it is thicker. I had the leche (milk) flavor, which turned out to be like caramel, and OH so yummy! The girls had come over earlier in the evening so I could teach Maria Valeria how to use her new iPod and download music and such.
Before the girls came over (because apparently I'm moving in backwards order tonight), my new friend Alvaro came over. He's in my US/L.A. Relations class (also with Christoph and now Valtteri too), speaks very good English, lived in Bellevue for 6 months a couple of years ago, and is going to come to Costa Rica with us next weekend! It will be nice to have someone other than just the 2 other guys along.

Interesting, the different kinds of foods you'll find around the world...in Tokyo I ate pig intestines. Not too bad, but they were a bit crunchy....ick.
Bellevue!! haha... yay. I saw that soup all over spain... never got up the nerve to try it though :)
