New homestays, new faces, old friends

Yesterday was the day we had to say goodbye (for a couple of weeks) to our new friends in Huisi so we could meet up with the rest of our group, which arrived yesterday afternoon (extremely exhausted, of course). It was so sad to leave my host sister Josefina, and her mom cried in the morning when Josefina and I left for the bus. I already miss her always-joyful presence and constant laughter!

It´s really fun to have the group here and be around some familiar faces. We´re currently staying in a town called Suchitoto, which actually isn´t super far from Huisi, although nobody here has heard of it haha... There is a language school here called Pajaro Flor where we´ll be taking Spanish lessons for 4 hours every day for the next few days. It´s so beatiful and our "classroom" is actually outside the building, looking over a gorgeous lake in the flowers and jungle. What a great place to learn!

Once again, we´re in homestays, although this time we have more than one of us staying. I was amazed when I walked into our new house here...it has a REAL toilet that flushes (!) and we get to shower with a shower head instead of a bucket!!! YESSS!!!!! :) I´ll try to put up pictures later (probably when I get back to the States) to show the different places we´ve been and the things we´ve been experiencing. My friend Becki and I are in the same homestay, and our family is great. The mom, Angela, is 28 and teaches at the school we go to, and her husband, Manuel is 25. He is an amazing artist and they make all sorts of artesania stuff to sell (necklaces, souvenirs, etc.) They have a little boy named Adrian who is 3 and is super funny. We´re having a great time and in a little bit we´ll be going on a boat tour of the lake.

We´ll be in Suchitoto until Monday, I think, and then on to San Salvador. I can already see we´ll be learning a ton and feel so blessed to be learning in such an experiential way in such a beatiful place.
